Back in January of this year, Jamie and I flew back to Saipan where I was born and raised. It was his first ever visit to the island. Prior to this trip, we had already planned on having our wedding in Los Angeles and we even had our venue picked out. That was before he fell in love with this tiny little place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I couldn't be happier with the decision he had made, and for me, it was an easy yes! I also knew that it would come with some challenges, but since I'm not a quitter, I was ready to take that challenge on! For example, there aren't any wedding planners in Saipan so I knew I would basically have to do everything on my own and hope for the best! This trip back home before the wedding was necessary just to make sure everything was in line and in place for the big day. All you ladies who have had destination weddings feel me on this one. Thankfully, however, I have a florist to take care of most of the flowers and decor. Personality wise, I am very OCD and like to have control of things so in a way, this might be a good thing. With Saipan being so far away and with such a large time difference, it poses some complications in that I can't just drive there if something needed to get done. This trip definitely put my mind at ease, but I also didn't know there were so many new things that we needed for the wedding. I arrived with a short list of things to do and left with a long one. I can't believe it is already August and before you know it, I will have to fly back again in December to tie up all the loose ends.
Since I can't show you much when it comes to the big day details, I have compiled some snippets of my outfits (that you can shop) that I wore and other things in between.
In case you are curious and want to see more of Saipan, here is a vlog of us on our trip back in January.
