Summer is still in full swing and with weather like this, FOMO (fear of missing out) starts to kick in. If you're anything like me, you won't want to miss a beat. You'll want to be out all day and be a part of the fun all while still looking cute at the same time! Eventually the sunshine turns into darkness and your daytime outfit will need a bit of tweaking. I will be showing you two different ways to take neutral, summer shades and transition them from day to night.
The first outfit features my favorite shades- whites and tans. These two colors together scream summer, chic and elegance. Hopefully you have your tan in-check because that's when an all white outfit looks best! There are so many ways to modify an outfit like this and don't be afraid to mix different shades of whites together- it will all end up blending in the end when adding other colors to the mix. Here the "other" color is tan or beige. I paired a basic off white cami with some white step hem jeans. If you're doing some day drinking, heels are acceptable, but if you opt for the more laid back route, a low block heel or some slides will look just as great. If jeans attract too much heat, try a white denim mini skirt or shorts. In order to take this look into the evening, I threw on this longline cardigan. This cardigan is so perfect on breezy summer nights and is something you can wear all throughout Winter and Spring as well.
For the second outfit, I took the same idea and changed the color scheme. Instead of going with nude tones, which a lot of times can wash people out, I went for khakis or olives- which these days is considered a new neutral. I took an H&M satin cami with the same white jeans and this time, a low block heel. I find the block heel to be an awesome alternative to the high heel on more casual occasions. Again, the cami and jeans can be used alone during the day (and can also be modified), but my night time piece is this military jacket. The military jacket trend has been so popular and I don't think it's going anywhere. There are so many ways you can wear it.
If you've followed me for a while, you'll know that neutrals are an important part of my wardrobe. Good, plain, basic pieces like camisoles and jackets also play a big role. Items like these really help me transition and intertwine different pieces in my closet from day to night, Summer to Winter and with other pieces in my closet that I already have.
Here is a video I made touching on the importance of neutrals and how it can go a long way in your wardrobe. I also give you tips on how to shop while you're on a budget and still look expensive. Enjoy!
